Beyond Bretton Woods

Reinventing Finance for a Regenerative Future

May 2-4, 2024 | Middlebury Bread Loaf Mountain Campus

80 years after the original 1944 monetary treaty, which brought us the World Bank, the IMF and the US dollar as the reserve currency, Beyond Bretton Woods set up a conference at Middlebury College to explore what a reimagined global financial architecture might look like.

Over 170 students and global experts presented and joined conversations, engaging in a kindred spirit.

Three lab sessions reviewed the polycrisis and central bank monetary policy, an eco-centric international financial reform focus, and strategies to mitigate global food and water supply shortages.
